Sanctum Somnium - PONGslaught Reborn!
Howdy!
Several updates have been going on behind the scenes regarding this game, and so I'd like to give a quick rundown of what's happening and the future of this project.
The quick of it is PONGslaught is being reborn into something new, built from the ground up in a new custom engine. Not only that, but it's got a mission now! To teach people how to overcome fear. I will be infusing the gameplay with all sorts of systems to this end, including a story to bring it all together. With this new direction I felt a rebrand necessary, and so what comes next is Sanctum Somnium.
The aesthetic and core gameplay will be the same, and perhaps some of the assets too, but it will be a 3D experience with many lessons from my continuance in my game dev journey included. I have learned a lot in the last 5 years, and so what comes next will be an incredible successor to the game I loved making.
I've also made a youtube video and channel, one of the first videos being my explanation/backstory to how I came to decide I should make the game about fighting fear. It is also a petition for help, I could use the financial help to achieve this goal, as I will be employing several people to make this happen. I reckon a Patreon is a good modality for this, until a publisher is found at least, as both the studio and the patrons benefit from this arrangement. Even once a publisher is found the Patrons will not be forgotten, and the promises made to them.
In a more minor update I have been aware of the problem that once the game was played, you would be stuck on the final level since the game remembered your progress between sessions. I have now included an additional file to reset the progress made and launch, which should help those who want to play the demo again as they please.
