Progress Update - April 2024


Howdy,


While most of early game development happens behind the scenes, it's nice to reach a point where visuals can start to be shown. While the new demo can't exist without the new codebase, which is still in development, progress has been made on the assets side of development too. Some of this time spent has been involved in the paperwork too, getting all our ducks in a row to legitimize the studio and formalize the outline for the game. The GDD (Game Design Doc) is pretty well finished, and many of the mechanics, systems, and ideas for each level and enemy has been solidified too.

Of course the core systems and ideas of this old prototype are being carried over to the commercial game, though in a more organized format that will better allow expanding upon what already exists. This means each level will have a unique feel and gameplay experience, justifying the existence of each of the "minion" levels leading up to boss fights.

I'm very excited to show off what's planned for the maps and enemies, though I equally so want to keep some element of mystery. Ultimately I will try to find a nice balance of showing off what's in development and quality control. I have been too much a perfectionist in the past, but with the excitement this project gives me I think I can better achieve this balance this time around.

I am thinking however of keeping the earliest and most exciting changes in the works on the Patreon, as it's a fair solution to both myself and the people who want to see this game flourish. In the meanwhile enjoy this sneak preview into some new art being made for the game's remake.
